Default Engine rebuild or New Engine

Alright guys, bad weekend but car has started blowing blue smoke - and only 65k miles and well maintained. Mainly after idling so figure rings or valve seals. Just curious the cost of rebuilding the engine versus just swapping a used engine in.

Anyone have an estimate on the cost of doing valve seals? rings?

Taking it to the shop sometime this week so will have a better estimate, just trying to get prepared for how bad it could be.

Thanks.

used engine will be much cheaper, assuming you remove and reinstall yourself. just make sure you check out the new motor thoroughly and get the model specific motor (de/revup/hr)

If you go to a salvage or something I suggest u ask for a g35 sedan motor only because they seem to charge a **** ton more for a similar condition z motor. Exact same engine, just have to change 2 things(oil pressure sensor by the the oil filter and the little "shim" on the back of the block where it mates to the tranny. Buy 1 and have a mech inspect it for u and save ur receipt.
