Default UR Pulleys need Advice

OK i was off the forum for a while and last time i was here they were discussing if our engine is internally damped and if a UR pulley would damage it , etc. i am considering a pulley but cant find the thread to read some more on it so does anyone know if our stocl crank pulley is just a pulley or actual dampner? thanks!

It is definitely more than just a pulley but as to what effect it has on balance and harmonic dampening on the engine, I cannot say. I installed the UR crank pulley around 5000 miles ago and I haven't noticed any problems. That is not to say that the long term effects will not surface. If you are truly concerned, hold off. The small HP gain is really not worth it IMO.

I feel (IMHO) that it was a worth while mod on my car. Of course my car has about every bolt on mod on it so maybe it reacted different. Power gain was 6hp across the board. Jason has my dyno sheet somewhere. My race team and our top master tech agree that it will cause no balance or wear problems as the engines are internally balanced. http://www.performancenissanparts.co...roducts_id=260

I would have to agree with jeff. I had a set on my 90 and 97 eclipse. one car had 240k and the other 50k with the UR pulleys and never had a problem. So I don't think the VQ will have a problem
