Default Question about gears...

I wonder if gears would be the ultimate solution to running sub 13 second quarter mile passes without FI. The only qualm about aftermarket gears would be that most sets of gears are geared extremely high. I don't know much about them, but I was hoping that someone could shed some light on the topic. Would it be possible or feasible to keep gears 1-5 at a higher ratio, and 6th at the stock ratio to maintain highway drivability? If I could design the perfect set of gears i'd keep gears 1-4 as short as possible, 5th at 1.00 and 6th at the stock .73 (i think)

Do I sound like a total idiot by even mentioning the possibility of aftermarket gears? Or would this be a feasible option that many Z owners would consider?

Mods - please move to engine mods as you see fit.
