new transmission
My first 350z, 03 track 6 mt, has a the 3rd gear syncro going out. Am I correct in thinking a 05 to 07 trans is what I need?

Any CD0009 will work, and the trans from an 03 to 06 will work.

to avoid this problem in the future, an 05 or 06 would be the best choice ?

Just get a CD009. My fifth gear was grinding so I replaced my transmission few weeks ago and problem solved.
