Default Need a Clutch...

Hey guys, I need a new clutch and I'm pretty sure I want to get the JWT clutch kit with the flywheel....but now I'm thinking the cement mixer noise is going to annoy me and I want to go with a different flywheel.

Is the nismo flywheel going to be A LOT quieter than the JWT? I am willing to go that route if it will actually quiet the noise a sufficient amount. I heard it will still rattle because it is still a single mass flywheel, just heavier than the JWT by 6 or 7lbs Does anyone have any experience with the nismo personally?

I'm also considering getting my stock dual mass resurfaced, either locally or have it shipped out....not sure what to do here as I have hear mixed stories on resurfacing the flywheels in these cars.

One last thing. I usually cruise around 1600-2000rpm and I have read my driving style will have to "change" because of the lightweight flywheel and I will have to keep my revs higher to avoid the chatter of the flywheel. I'm fine with this, but can I still cruise at around 1800-2000rpm? Or will I still hear the chatter under very low load, such as cruising? If it is just under heavy load like full throttle then that is okay too

ANY help is much appreciated!

If you're worried about chatter you need to just stay away from lighter flywheels. I run the Z1 Mild Performance Clutch/Flywheel kit. 13lb solid steel flywheel. Very light but makes plenty of noise at idle and while cruising. From what I hear, the nismo will result in less chatter, but you might as well just resurface your oem one and save some money. Best of luck

No experience with the Nismo, but I have the ACT Streetlite flywheel (17 lbs) and the chatter is minimal. Matter of fact, I only hear the chatter when idling in neutral. The Nismo should be even quieter.

The "cement" mixer noise is not that noticeable. Especially if your car has mods like an exhaust.

Agreed.

I have the South Bend (19lbs) Race version and it does chatter under load at 1000-2000 rpms, minimal but there. No chatter in neutral.

I would not resurface the factory DMF , go SMF, or spend $800-1000 on an OEM replacement.

+1 for Southbend

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-...pressions.html

Still behaves the same as my initial review. No chatter normal driving shifting 1-2-3... If I start in 2nd or short shift 1-2 and end up under load in 2nd under about 1200 rpms, then I hear a little chatter. Other than that, no unpleasant sounds.

Honestly, just stick to OEM, unless your using your car for something besides daily driving. save the money.

And when I cruise i stick around 2.5k and 3k rpms? am I the only one doing that?
