Default walbro 255 fuse blowing

today my fuel pump fuse blew a couple of times shortly after getting out of boost. I was on an on-ramp to merge onto the freeway and the fuse blew causing the engine to stall once I disengaged the clutch...
that happened to me 3 times all in the same scenario.
a couple of weeks earlier, after a hard run at the drag strip or after an autox run it would stall and not be able to start for a few minutes, then it would run great again.
I do live in vegas where the weather has been getting up to 118... could that be having an effect on the fuel pump drawing more amperage? I still have the stock 15a fuse for the fuel pump (in the hidden box behind the battery)
A couple of my buddies have told me to replace the fuse with a 20a, since the walbro draws more amperage than stock. does that sound about right?

In your setup, for what you use the car for, it should be on a relay setup.

+1 on the relay. It's scary how hot the stock wires gets when powering the walbro. If a relay doesn't fix it, time for a new pump.

so the best bet would be to put a "kill switch" to activate and deactivate the pump?
or is there any other way to keep it on the stock wiring? so the higher amp fuse is not a good idea?

No need for a switch. The relay is triggered on/off by the stock pump wiring (draws maybe 0.5 amps from it), and the power to the relay and pump is supplied by a fused 10awg wire directly to the battery. I think mine's 30 amps. You can buy it as a complete set or piece together your own with standard automotive relay that is rated high enough. For example:

oh ok got it, makes more sense now. i cant believe this little piece can cause so many head aches.
so i looked around and would this be a good complete kit to go ahead and install?

it seems to have everything i would imagine i would need.
and is a 30a relay much like yours djamps.
*a little off topic but can i draw power from the wire that powers my amplifier since its wired directly to the battery as well?

I wouldn't do that. Pretty silly if the amp faults/overloads and causes the engine to shut off.

I run on the same power wire to my amps.

I have a 200amp fuse right off the battery then it goes back to a fused distribution block. The amp is on an 80amp fuse and my twin pump setup is on a 40amp fuse. Stereo amp can't blow the main fuse to the power since it will blow an 80amp fuse. Only way for the main power wire fuse to blow is if there is a short in the wire of the main power fuse (so it's just for safety).

If you are running both make sure you have a large enough wire. I run a 4ga wire to the distribution block. If you only have a 10g wire going back it will be stressed running a full amp and fuel pump.

i installed the relay with the 30a fuse and the fuse blew yet again.
so i figured it had to be a bad fuel pump. I was kind of skeptical since the walbro was only a few months old. I replaced the pump and now it works great!

New issue though:
When i tried to fill up my gas tank it will get to a little before half way full before fuel started spilling.
It spills from under the gas tank itself by the passenger side door.
Any idea on what it could be? I didnt have this issue prior to the fuel pump install

did you reattach the siphon line to the other side of the tank?

The two gas lines that were originally attached to the fuel pump basket are attached, i took everything apart to make sure they were attached.

It will not let me fill up past about 6 gallons before it starts to spill out.
is there another line that becomes disconnected once i remove the fuel pump basket?

the only reason the tank would be overflowing is that your siphon isnt working or your gas tank is being pressurize (vent blocked)

I replaced the fuel filter and the o ring that goes in the tank opening by the fuel pump basket.
Im not sure which one did the trick but it seems to be working perfectly now.

Thanks for the help guys!

Those pumps don't seem to last long, very tempting to get an extra to keep in my racetrack spares kit.
