Default in tank fuel regulator

The pressure regulator inside de fuel tank in the aam or aps kits is replaced! Why? Can’t we use the oem regulator?
I was thinking in making my own stage 0 fuel return kit and after reading a lot I still have this doubt.
can i make some sort of diy on this????

this is the OEM regulator of the fuel pump.

is this modification needed only for that nº 5 ????
cant i make a thread for the L type screw????

Love the idea. However, the idea of the regulator for me is the componence of accessing it.
