I recently bought a 2008 base model, and I thought it had an open differential. I peeled out today and when I looked in the rear view it left two skid marks. I thought open differentials only span one wheel? The previous owner did a few really small mods, so its possible he swapped the diff at some point. Can an open differential leave two skid marks?

Did you aso the seller yet?
I would be sooooooooo happpy if I found my base with a legit diff. I just swapped in a VLSD which is good for now
An open differential wont leave 2 marks. You have a differential of some sort.
Open can leave two marks at times under the right condition.
If you bought a used car it is very possible to get a VLSD with it. I know my 05 base is floating around out there with a VLSD, that and touring 18's were the only things done to it.

What conditions are those? My open diff wouldn't even leave two marks in gravel 0_o
I have an 07' Enthusiast, with around 66K miles, and I experience open diff qualities with my VLSD at times... Time to upgrade!! If you have an open diff, I'd recommend a Cusco MZ or RS 1.5 way. From what I've heard, they are some of the best diffs around..

Yes an actual differential is on my infinite list of parts to put on
