Default Redline MT-85 'review'

So I swapped out my trans oil with Redline MT-85 since I was nearing 60K and the trans was starting to feel quite notchy. I've had the dreaded third gear grind/synchro issues since about 56K so a trans swap will be coming up in the future, but for now, this MT-85 seems to have done the trick for a temporary band-aid. First thing I noticed is that shifts are quite a bit smoother (which is to be expected with any new fluid). The grind was still there for the first 100 miles or so but it's at about 350-400 miles on the oil now and I have yet to notice any kind of difficulty with third gear, or any gear for that matter. It would usually grind every single time the car was cold the first or second time going into third, but it hasn't done it once since I passed over about 150-200 miles on the new oil, so here's to hoping it stays that way for at least a while.

TL;DR: Redline MT-85 may/may not be a viable quickfix Band-Aid for synchro grind issues. Also, it's nice and slippery between gears.

It seems to be good stuff! I would suggest whichever is cheaper Redline MT-85 or Nissan MTF. I'm on almost 30,000mi or 3 years on the MT-85 and the shift feel is like mint. My total mileage is close to 81,000 original owned miles. I may run it another couple years on this fluid.

Update a few days and few hundred miles later...

Shifts just keep getting smoother. No notchiness whatsoever really noticeable in the gearbox and the third gear grind has pretty much vanished. Cold start, operating temp, it feels good pretty much at every range of temperature.

Highly recommend this stuff so far. I've got close to a thousand miles on it now, so we'll see how it wears as time goes on, but so far it's phenomenal.

I've been using the stuff since they released it, nothing better for our transmissions out there, even better than the factory synthetic blend fluid.
