Default LS Swap with Auto-Trans??

I have an 03 Enthusiast thats in really good shape. I got it some years back and college as my first car purchased by myself. Anywho, I'm thinking of doing an LS1 or LS6 swap, but I have an automatic trans. Has anyone tried doing the LS1 swap with a 4L60E tranny? Is it feasible and is it even worth it?

Look at Sikky's Stuff. They make a lot of the needed parts for an LS swap. Anything is possible with a torch and a hammer.

I saw a couple of threads on the Sikky swap. Its pretty straight forward and a really clean install but i've never seen anyone mate the LS1+ with an auto trans though. They have all been stick.

I think it would be pretty awesome sleeper, especially since it would be auto.

i really don't have a limit. but at the same time, i wouldnt want to pay as much for the swap as it would cost to just buy a new car. From what I've seen, the swap (in parts) would be between $5k-$7k.

Your best bet would be to get some sizing comparisons from the Manual to Auto trany's...Usually Autos are a bit on the bigger side.

that is on the low side, my buddy spent 8k on motor and trans, and then about another 1800 on the sikky kit, and then to get the two computers hooked together another 800. so far he is about 12k into it

I will need to set aside more money for it. I will probably buy a piece at a time over the next couple months until i have everything.

I still need to make sure it would work with an auto trans first though. Do you guys think its even worth it?

Default SWAP

I was reading here somewhere that there is a better kit now than sikky...look under LSx swaps or something...I'd use a 4l80e trans.

there are other kits, but nothing is as complete or more widely used than the Sikky kit.

I wouldnt even do an LS motor. Might want to even look at a 5.3 out of a junkyard. I have a friend with a 5.3 and 70mm and he makes ~450whp in a fox body.

Edit: Take a look here http://sloppymechanics.com/ They do 5.3 swaps with that auto trans all the time.

5.3L is a lsx though =P all the truck engines and ls engines are lsx's. only difference between the 5.3L and the ls1 is the bore size(and it can be bored to a ls1) if you do the l33 aluminum 5.3L it uses ls6 heads with slightly heavier valves.

Jerry does the l33 fit in the Z without modding the engine bay?

all the lsx engine have the exact same external dimensions the swap kits are all the exact same. i highly do not recommend swapping for less then 1000whp though

Stop saying LSX thats misleading and wrong. They are LS not LSX!

Anyways every LS motor on the outside is almost the same. Difference are all internal. LS2 has lifter tray issues. Just like any GM you can piece together the best parts.
