Default UR Pulley install comments - 2 out of 3!

all in all a very easy mod to do.

I followed wadd357's (is that his name?) instructions and it was very easy.

I put the 2x4 against the brake and seat and used a breaker bar with the 19mm socket and it came off in less than one minute! (had it in 6th gear)

loosened the 4 screws on the water pump pulley while the belt was still tight...

loosened the tensioners, pulled off the belts and switched the two pulleys EASY! took about an hour to do....

the only issue was trying to get the alternator pulley off! How do you do it? do you have to remove the alternator completely from the car to get the pulley off?

I tried for only a few minutes and realized it would be a problem so I gave up and settled for 2 out of 3.

but as they say.....

2 out of 3 aint bad!

any suggestions?

Yes, I removed the alternator, which was a pain, since you have to remove it from below and all the bolts are behind the wiring harnesses, brackets, etc.

Once it is out of the car, a simple blip from an impact wrench will free the pulley nut. If you don't have an impact wrench, you can (very carefully) lock the alternator using a screwdriver against one of the cooling fan blades.

Good luck.

DeeZee,

How much do you want for it. I'm thinking of replacing the idler pulleys and I may be able to get a bearing pressed in there. Let me know. Those pulleys are works of art! BTW what finish do you have?

Yeah, 2 out of 3 for me too. That alternator pulley will have to wait till the alt goes up.
