jwt clutch/flywheel proper break in procedure?
got the jwt clutch and flywheel combo in and I cannot find a thread on here that gives a definite answer... 300miles city driving? 500 miles city driving? stay under 3000rpm?
Please thanks
Please thanks
i don't know if they have some crazy secret way of doing this but traditionally you just take it easy for about 500 miles..
Me personally, i have probably changed 20 + clutches on my personal vehicles over that past 10 years. I have NEVER once followed the accepted break in procedure. I start it, cheek for leaks, then leave black marks on the road.
I have done all sorts of clutch from OEM, to crazy looking 3 puc clutches. Heat kills them.
You don't want to over heat clutch, ever. I.E. excessive feathering. It can glaze, similarly to a fan belt. If it glazes it wont grab as good.

I drove fairly easy on mine (no hard launches) for a few hundred miles but after just a trip around the block I poked the throttle in a corner to see if it was slipping or not.
Judging by how sideways I got I'm guessing it was holding pretty good.

I have never followed clutch break in procedure either, just so long as you're not tracking it from the get-go... you'll be fine.
You'll feel when the clutch is broken in most likely. Also, I'm on my 2nd JWT clutch /flywheel friction plate now, and the last one gave me a solid 75k miles, and I abused it pretty good. Just drove it hard from day 1.
