Parts Review: Ebay Cam Position Sensor
Just something for future reference.
Many of you guys know, early 350z had issues with the camshaft sensors. The DE 350z uses 2 of them located on the back of the engine. Failing or bad camshifts would cause some of the following issues.
CEL (also VDC and SLIP Light)
Hard start (long time cranking before start)
Engine Stalling
Lost of power
sluggish acceleration/bad mpg
My car would have 1-2 split seconds where the engine loose power and almost stall. Check engine would come on along with VDC and Slip. CEL was for driver side bank sensor.
I found camshaft sensors on Ebay for much cheaper then anywhere else. (First mistake, Too Good to be true!!) Price from $16-26 shipped. US seller. I won't mention seller ID.
I bought one, put it on. And the car ran okay for about 3-4 months. Then the car would have a very hard time starting. The engine would crankover 6-7 times before it start. Driving on highway, power would cut for 1-2 seconds. Turning off cruise control. CEL once again. Same code/position again!
So, I bought another one(second mistake). Different seller, but still looks generic as other one. I put it in. My car does NOT START AT ALL.
Okay, learned my lesson. Shopped around for OEM ones. Cheapest place I found online is Z1 Motorsports @58-$68. Car starts right up first. No more $hitting bricks when engine randomly cuts out. Third times the charm.
CLIFF
2 Ebay Sensors=Crap
1 OEM=Great
