Hey guys im pretty new to the z scene and I went ahead and bought a z that is everything ive wanted in a 350z but its automatic... So im wondering if its worth converting it to a stick or if its better to forget it and sell it later on for a stick shift. Its an 03 touring.

 

The swap isn't difficult if you're somewhat mechanically inclined. There is a DIY writeup on it in the DIY section.

 

Sell and buy a stick, not worth converting it.

 

There was a post here not long ago about a guy doing the swap for about $1300. I say go for it

 

Well ive rebuilt a motor on my 3000gt vr4 so I would say im mechanically inclined enough. I got this car for 12k and its everything I like, Grey with orange leather inside. I just wanted it to be stick lol. So 1300 for that is nothing! If I did the swap what else would I need to replace?

 

No, if youre doing all that work you need to put in a new CD009..around $1800 or so from some vendors that advertise on this site. Unless you can find one that you are SURE hasnt been run long or hard.

Otherwise, youre gambling. Sucks when you do all that work and then a short time later your 3rd or 5th starts to grind.
