Default Need Swap Help/Advise

Hey Guys I Am rebuilding my 03 z and needed some help and/or advise on a swap. first thing is i have a bare shell (no Engine/tranny), I Been searching recently for Engine and tranny swap that are both cost efficient and Not too difficult. i Found a Few which is where some advice for you guys comes in .first, i found a full long block (engine, tranny, harness, and ecu) really close to me at a jdm spot . It Is a low mileage swap but the only thing is it came from a fairlady z(right hand Drive) . What Would Be The Steps i would have to take to make this swap successful? The other situation i have is I Found A 06 Motor Low Mileage No Harness Ecu Or Tranny For a Great Price As Well, The Only Thing Is This Motor Is out The Car Already so i cant really check it and It Doesnt have warranty Like the first. The Question is The Same for this motor , how can i make this possible , and Also Can i Use A Older Tranny on An 06 Motor? Please help !! Thanks In Advance

Perhaps the first thing to help you with is the knowledge that Nissan built the Z33 with a fully integrated electronic system. Depending on which IPDM and version of the ABS and BCM systems came with your shell, you should try to match the engine, tranny and harness to those components. This sophisticated system will NOT work with a mismatched set of components, it's designed to check everything from the ABS system to whether the key is properly matched to the ignition.

Of course, this is only if you expect everything to work in your rebuilt Z. If your Z is really just a bare shell, it's going to be almost impossible for it to function as well as a factory built car. You might consider rebuilding it with an aftermarket ECM and running an alternate harness for basic functions. That means a lot of time spent learning how to build what is basically a race car and one that won't really function as a street ride.

So neither if the two options you have are really going to work as a plug-n-play solution. You've stepped into a deep pond and there's no way to provide more than a surface explanation of what's in store for the next few years of your life. Search and you'll find little tidbits here and there, but the honest truth is that you've chosen a long, expensive and difficult path to having a minty fresh Z.
