Default 2006 350z Roadster clicking noise when shifting gears?

Hey guys I just bought a used 2006 350z roadster manual with 59k miles as a salvage (it was hit in the rear) and I noticed that when I have the clutch fully in and I want to go through all the gears to get the feel of them, there is a loud "tick" or "click" noise when I enter each gear, even when the car is off and ebrake engaged I just wiggle the **** and I can hear a click every time it goes all the way right and all the way left. I've driven a manual audi before but I didnt hear the clicks or ticks on it. When driving the car I didnt notice the clicks because the cars exhaust overcomes the noise, but I don't know if the clicks are actually there or not when switching gears while driving. Anyway is this normal? Is it just the gears engaging is what I'm hearing? I'm just worried something might go wrong.

It's likely normal clutch/transmission noise which is characteristic of our cars. It's pretty well known that the Z has a lot of clutch noise and chatter. As long as it still shifts fairly smoothly and you don't have to force it into gear, you're probably OK. But then again, it's hard to give a sound opinion (pun intended) on it without hearing it in person.

If you're really worried about it, you could always take it to a shop you trust, but they'll likely tell you they will need to drop the transmission ($$$) to diagnose it.
