350z limp mode help!!
Guys so my dad took my 350z to his job and I told him it was low on gas so he said I'll fill it up for u. I end up taking the diseal to school and and when I get to work he took his truck and I took my car. I left the car there and soon my co worker said go get food so I head out and start the z. Soon as I leave in 1st gear it felt weird then when I started going it would start to redline athe 2500 rpm! I turned around called my dad and said tell me the truth did u put 93 in or not and he said cause of the gas situation here in NC that there was no 93 which was a lie. So I get my boss to go out and he tells me it's in limp mode and as soon as he hooks up his obd there was NO codes. He erased it and the car revved fine and was back to normal. He soon asked me if my dad put 87 and I said yeah and he said that was the problem cause u could smell the fumes from the car before. I ended up putting 3 octane boosters on it and let it sit for 3 hours. I get off work and the car hesitates real bad I'm 1st and my boss said it's normal just drive under 3000 rpm and when home it will cycle overnight and be back to normal. Please will someone tell me it will be fine?? Cause my dad drove it with some 93 still in it that's why he didn't have any issues but I did?? There was no code so was it the gas??

Well, it's not going to "Redline" at 2500 rpm, and 87RON will not cause "limp mode", just less acceleration.
if you smelled fuel, make sure your fuel cap is on. You did not say whether from front or rear.
When something goes wrong try to understand everything that changed. It is possible to get bad gas. If the station isn't very busy/underground tanks damaged or absorbing moisture...You might want to try a product like HEAT to eliminate any possible water in the system. Or siphon, or let it idle until empty. Then put 2 gallons of good 93.
The other possibility is something completely different has changed. Let us know what the problem was when you get it sorted. gl!
