As close to the engine as possible for the most accurate reading. Place it where ever it is easier for you, just remember the closer to the engine the more accurate the reading.

Also, due to the design of our intake plenum, I suspect that there would be a tendency for the rear cylinders to run a bit leaner, so I would tap one of those. You could always ask someone that has gone FI. I would bet that they installed an EGT at that time.

Sorry to hijack this thread, well, it has something to do with this, but I can't find anyone for the life of me that can install this probe! One place I went to mentioned that there wasn't enough space to do it with the manifold installed (even removed the crossmember underneath), the 2nd person I went to said he woudn't TIG weld anything to a car that is still attached, as the AC current can zap the "electronics" in the car. Should I just drill and tap the collector right after cyl 6? Tapping the header isn't good becuase if tightened too much it can crack over time? Can someone please provide a picture of a successfully installed EGT probe on a stock manifold that wasn't removed, or some sound advice.... it would be appreciated

you are very limited for room there, so be careful.

Ideally, the #6 runner of the manifold, 2-6 inches from the head.

if not, driver side collector would be fine as well
