Hello forum members first off I would like to say thank you for anyone who responds to this. Well long story short I built the short block for this engine myself, brand new crankshaft Eagle rods Ross Pistons fresh 20 over bore in the cylinders. I wasn't shooting for super high horsepower numbers so I ended up not touching the heads or valve/springs. The issue that I'm having is the driver side Bank all three cylinders are spitting oil out of the exhaust, a lot of it. I checked compression but it's hard to say if the numbers are correct being that there's a lot of oil in the cylinders even though the Pistons look squeaky clean, the plugs have quite a bit of oil on them and I have found oil on top of the intake valves. The leak down test read less than 10% for both the driver side and the passenger side. I have a breather system and there is no Pcv hooked to the intake. I'm looking for some insight before I tear my cams out an attempt to fix the issue with valve seals the biggest reason I'm confused is the passenger side doesn't shoot any oil out at all and all three cylinders on the driver side have quite a bit of oil coming out of them as well as like I said oil on top of the valve. It still blows oil out even with my Breather System and the oil fill cap off so I don't believe it's a crankcase pressure issue. It actually runs quite decent with a slight Miss every so often probably because a fouling spark plug.
I don't really understand how the valve seals were good when I took the motor apart and bad enough 2 leak this much oil after reassembly.
so my question is is it possible to have a valve seal leak enough oil that oil is pooled on top of the valve?
thanks for your time
My father has been a gm mechanic for 30 years he took a look at it with the compression tester and leak down tester and he is not sure what's going on. He says that he has seen other mechanics leave valve seals off and the valves didn't leak this much. So I'm a little hesitant to tear into the valve seals if that may not be the problem.
Anyone? Lol
While I'm testing for this the turbo is off of the car and the intake is just connected to the man housing and then pulling air straight into the maf.
mods that may have to do with the problem.
Rev up oil pump
hr headgasket (the larger cooling path was created)
arp L19 head studs ( I thought maybe the slightly higher torque could have cracked the head but I couldn't find any other instances of this happening and thought that an extra 15 foot pounds or so would crack the head across all three cylinders)
oh man...three unanswered posts...it's obvious that I'm desperate lol
After a bunch of testing I believe that the drivers side bank is running super rich. Causing the oil/fuel to blow out. I Will hopefully be plugging my haltech in this weekend and dumping the previous Osiris tune. Then off to the tuner
