Default 04 350z with a bad rod bearing

What engines are compatible?? Can I use the bottom end from a 01 pathfinder?

No. You can use a DE from an '03 - '05 Z (non-RevUp, if '05)

Ok, guess I got bad info. I bought the car for 400 bucks cause it was knocking. My buddy has a 01 pathfinder with the 3.5vqde engine that's totaled out (only 62k). He said I could have the engine, it still starts up and everything. He also told me the blocks were identicle both being rwd and the only difference was the heads. So really what I was wanting to do was swap out the heads on my 350z to that bottom end.

well turns out this isn't true....i used the pathfinder bottom end and I'm going on 300miles since the swap. 04 350z heads on the pathfinder block can and does work.

You can bolt it together, but that doesn't make it a Z motor. The compression ratio is lower on the Pathfinder, so you'll be down on HP/TQ.

well we ended up using 350z rods and pistons in that block....the z block was scratched up so we couldn't reuse it.

my main concern in asking was just if the block would work, not too concerned with hpor anything....just needed a daily driver for work and back.

In any case, glad you got it up and running. It's been a long time since I've been without at least one working car, but I know what it's like.
