Default EDPM Layout does not match repair manual

I replacing the A/C relay in the 350z. Looking at the manual, it appears the relay is located in the IDPM block, located on the firewall behind the battery. The repair manual has a nice diagram showing where the relay is located.

However, when I got everything apart and opened up the panel in the car, this is what I found (see below). So, either there is another fusebox hiding somewhere I don't know about or someone at Nissan decided to re-arrange things on me. The blue relay is the replacement relay I bought, just not sure about where it goes.

Does anyone have a diagram for the pictured box? Right now I would be happy knowing which one of these is the A/C relay.

Thanks,
Jeff

Just found this page for the IPDM supposedly for a 2004 Altima. The good news is it appears to be the same layout as the IPDM I found in my g/f's 350Z. The bad news is there does not appear to be an A/C relay!

I'm looking for the same thing, but getting a bad feeling:

CAUTION: None of the IPDM E/R-integrated relays can be removed.
SYSTEMS CONTROLLED BY IPDM E/R

1. Lamp control Using CAN communication line, it receives signal from BCM and controls the following lamps: ● Headlamps (Hi, Lo) ● Parking lamps ● Tail lamps ● License plate lamps
2. Wiper control Using CAN communication line, it receives signals from BCM and controls the front wipers.
3. Rear window defogger relay control Using CAN communication line, it receives signals from BCM and controls the rear window defogger relay.
4. A/C compressor control Using CAN communication line, it receives signals from ECM and controls the A/C relay.
5. Cooling fan control Using CAN communication line, it receives signals from ECM and controls cooling fan relay.

Jeff,

What year and model is your Z? The diagram in my 2005 service manual matches the picture in your first post (see attached). Your blue relay appears to be the ignition relay. The A/C relay shows up in the schematic, but not on the diagram I attached. It may be mounted on the reverse side. The front wiper relays are also on the schematic but not on the diagram.

Karit,

The blue relay in the pic was the new I bought for the A/C. Before installing it, I looked at the diagram and noted it was the bottom relay in the IPDM, and simply placed it there. Once it was installed, I noticed the diagram did not match the actual part. I've pulled the relay out and put the original back in.

I did not think about the relay being on the back side of the IPDM module. Sneaky buggers aren't they?

Thanks for posting the diagram. I'll add it to my files for future reference.

Jeff

Default How do you get behind the ipdm box for the ac relay

Jeff,
I seen that you said the relay was on the other side of the box but how do you take it out and get to it?
