Default 2018 370z VLSD swap

Hello, I have a new diff from an 18z arriving tomorrow. My car is now cammed and feel that the 3.69 gears would be better suited rather than the ones on my 03Z. I read they bolt right on, others say needs a bit of modification......? Both 6sp cars.
i had been thinking about gears sinse i got the cams.
this would be far cheaper than getting new gears installed
AND sinse the donor car only has 7500 miles (my car 180k and a hum at certain speed) I thought it would be a no brainer
to jump on it.

Should be straight swap if its manual to manual, let me know how it works out. I wanted to do that for a long time but gave up. I ultimately want a better LSD so that's only delaying the inevitable.

Ok cool, the diff arrives Today and I’ll have shop install it tomorrow, the diff seems to be selling for about 400 on average, I DIDNT know that the 2015+ nismos come with 3.9 gears, explains why they are selling for closer to 600.00
i think this is far better option than buying new gears plus all the other BS REQUIRED for install (and cheaper) but this diff comes from factory ready to go.

For sure, you should definitely consider bushings while you are swapping them out.

Dam! I amazed such a small diff in gearing change made quite a diff in the feel of the car. 1st gear was USLESS to begin with (needs tires) but now it’s even worse. If u can get your hands on a 3.7 diff for cheap, it’s well worth the swap. Beats actually buying gears getting installed ETC. just bolt in and go. Quite happy and impressed!

I would be more than happy to trade you my 3.7. You really can't beat this mod in terms of cost, makes the z much more responsive. Rear diff > I/H/E without tune.

I like my 3.7 quite a bit, its a noticeable difference from the 3.5, brought a smile to my face more than any NA mod. I want the 3.9 now.

So I have an issue now (I’ve had sisne the swap) wihr traction control on anything more than 30-40% throttle the slip light starts blinking like crazy and cuts the power off. I can’t even WOT AT ALL it starts blinking like crazy and cuts power completely. If I turn off all is great. Anyone have ideas what needs to change ???

The differential output shafts for the 370Z have a different trigger disc design design than the 350Z ones, look up pictures or part numbers and compare them, they have a different number of 'teeth'. I think your abs sensors that are mounted on your rear diff cover are reading those 'teeth' on the output shafts and getting a different signal than what it is expecting, you'll need 350Z differential output shafts I believe to fix your issue.

Ok the sensors mount in same location, we just swapped the sensors and from the 370z and same result. I counted the teeth on diff (370) and it has 48. I’ll count the 350z diff when I get home. How do the input shafts come off diff????

The output shafts should just pop out with a bit of persuasion from a rubber mallet or pry bar. Don't quote me on it but I think the output shafts are different lengths between an open diff model and a vlsd unit so they may or may not work depending on what the 350Z diff was. Also, I just counted the number of teeth on a spare vlsd pumpkin I have out of a 350Z and there are only 46.

This one has 48 so it makes perfect sense, my speedo is reading 6mph higher also. I was worried initially because the rpm change at redline vs speed wasn’t making sense, looked the same. I’ll get them swapped out in a few days at the shop. All is great as long as traction control is off LOL.
well, they will work right?
