Default grounding kit opions

I was thinking of getting a grounding kit for my car and was wondering what everyone thought about them and if they are worth installing. Courtesy Nissans website claims up to 8 horsepower and up to 10 pounds of torque, my roomate laughed and said this is impossible and that i would be lucky to get half a horse. He said something about that it was tested on a chassis dyno and that it is not realistic, is this true?

Installed a 6-wire grounding kit on my Z two weeks ago +-. Don't waste your money, it does absolutely nothing! The only thing it might be good for is bonding time between you and your car.

My idle has not smoothed out, and there is no difference that I can feel in horsepower or torque.

Kinda looks cool, but how many times will you be lifting the hood?

In conclusion, I must point out that I have heard results opposite from mine.

I got a really good deal on InSaNeMiNe's 4-gauge grounding kit and I must say that the kit was very cleanly assembled. I don't see how it could be beat by any competitor in terms of workmanship and price.

I installed the 4 gauge 5 wire kit from z327 last week. Definitely don't feel any horsepower or torque increase, might be a little smoother but hard to tell. It does look pretty nice under the hood though.

Call the shop that make the insane hp claims and see if they will give you your money back when you do a before and after dyno and prove there are no gains.

I ordered the Max grounding system from http://www.courtesyparts.com/350z/ and have really noticed a difference. I can see a quicker accelerator response, brighter lights inside and outside of the car, and where that flat spot at 4500 rpm used to be, I get a great ramp up to 8000 rpm's. I'm sorry to hear that you guys haven't had any success. I'm installing an Injen CAI this weekend to see how they stack together.

thanks for the feedback, that is the same kit i ordered. I was hoping someone would say it was a decent investment. I think cosmeticley it should add something underneath my hood. Worst case I wasted eighty dollars for cosmetics, oh well not bad considering my Nismo oil filler cap was seventy dollars and its just for looks period.

hey guys, i was wondering before i install this kit is the engine cover easy to get off? What kind of tools should a novice such as my self have to make the job easier? That tower bar looks like it will make things a litle tight for space

I personally have noticed a slight difference... the car idles lower a bit and it did seem to smooth out acceleration. I was pleased with the investment.

10mm socket and wrench is all you need. One of the engine cover bolts is a tight fit, which is why you need the 10mm wrench. I installed a grounding kit last weekend, it was very easy. Don't know if it did anything, but as a software guy, anything that helps out the computer is a plus in my book.

I had the MAx grounding kit installed on my Z before I traded it in, and I thought I could feel a slightly smoother throttle while accelerating, and a little bit lower of an idle... I never did have it dyno tested/tuned, but it felt like it did net some power. Although, it could have been my positive thinking kicking in and fooling me...

There ya go!!

Had that same effect for the first few minutes of driving her after the install, but came to the conclusion that it was all in my head the next morning.

I too was consdiering the Courtesy grounding kit. Most others have complained/admitted that their silver kits have changed color over time. This one said it didn't due to some Mylar chrome covering over the wires. Is this crap or true??
