Default swapping cd008 to cd00A and need some clarification if possible

as the title says, i’m going to be throwing in a cd00a that i’m purchasing from z1.

for reference i have an 04’ DE

throughout all my research i keep seeing a few people claim that you need to also get a new pivot ball and new release fork for the cd00a to properly function in the earlier z’s but i can’t find anyone that definitely confirms it.

can anyone confirm or deny it for me? i tried emailing z1 but the person honestly wasn’t helpful. nothing against z1 i just don’t think the person knew.

thanks in advance 🙏

'03-early '04 models used a stamped clutch fork and the "long" clutch pivot. Both are considered inferior to the one below.

'04.5 and later use a cast iron fork and short pivot.

It is advised to upgrade to the later/latter mentioned set up. But in your case, you "may" already have the latter (depending on production date). But either way, it's a good idea to replace (at least) the pivot ball and preferably both to the later style. At a little over $100, I consider that cheap insurance. Easier to replace it now than have to drop the box again later to replace a broken pivot or lever.
