Injectors not fully seated in lower plenum?
Hey guys,
I've recently installed the same injectors and Godsnow fuel rail on my fully built VQ35DE that was on my last engine (stock, it blew up, vortech supercharged after 20,000km)
I cant find a decent walkthrough on the proper installation of the injectors once they are on the rail and being put into the lower plenum.
Here's my skepticism:
With these injectors installed on my last build, everything ran perfectly. However, after installing them this time around, I noticed that with the injectors attached to the fuel rail, the injectors will sit into the injector hole on the lower plenum but without an obvious / apparent click, that tells me they are seated. This made me question their proper seating.
I figured I'd see what would happen with the injectors NOT attached to the fuel rail (individually). I can press the single injector into the hole on the lower plenum with an obvious click / seat, a click I did not hear with them attached to the rail. BUT with the injector now seated into the lower plenum, it'll no longer seat in the fuel rail, as if the injector is too short. (Yes the OEM black spacers are NOT being used, rail is mounted directly to the plenum).
The service manual and instructions I've found state that the injector is supposed to be mounted to the rail (which makes an obvious click) THEN placed into the injector hole on the plenum, but because I'm not hearing it click going into the plenum makes me question it.
If you're familiar with the plenum, where the rails bolt to the plenum where the black spacers sit, there is a small lip to the outside of that spot that helps center the black spacer and keep it in place. I feel If I ground that small lip down it may give me the room I need to "fully" seat the injectors. (I know this really should not be necessary but may give me that little bit of room needed to bring the whole rail down to "properly" seat)
I'm confused because it doesn't seem right, BUT it did work perfectly fine on my last engine (I'm using the exact same parts). I want to avoid waiting for the initial start-up to realize the injectors aren't seated properly. I could be overthinking it, but my gut tells me something ain't right.
What are your guys' experiences with this? What are your thoughts?
Thanks

Solved the problem. Yes the injectors were not seating fully into the lower plenum with the Godsnow fuel rails and Bosch 650cc injectors. (No idea how this was not leaking / sealing when I had it installed originally, but anyhow)
I removed the rails and injectors. I ground down the 4 bolt mount surfaces where the rails rest / mount with a die grinder. This lowered the rails and allowed the Injectors to fully seat in both the rail AND the lower plenum. Solid clicks and little to no up and down movement on the injector, but still able to spin them slightly. Perfect.
I started by removing the outside lip that holds the black plastic rail spacer center. This wasnt enough. I then starting taking a bit of the main surface and maintaining the same angle. This took three tries of grinding, cleaning, installing and checking play / movement up and down on the injectors. I took around 1/8" to 3/16" of an inch off.
All good in the hood now.
