Default RIP -

Check it out guys! March 3rd, 2004 the newspaper reported that a guy named Frank Steeves died 1 day after installing his GReddy TT Kit after becoming a bit too intimate with a telephone pole. Apparently when you install the intercooler, you're supposed move the airbag sensor. They think the steering column is what killed him - no airbag deployed. He lived long enough to make it to the hospital.

The absolute saddest thing is he left behind a wife and daughter. If anyone is interested - the family is accepting donations in the name of Sara Elizabeth. Checks can be sent to Sara Elizabeth, 200 Technology Drive, Suite L, Irvine, CA 92618.

Is it true about the airbag and sensor? Anybody know?

Man, what a sad story. RIP.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but I feel compelled to ask: For all of the money you are spending on this car, you could have probably gotten a true JDM-spec R34 Skyline that would still smoke a TT 350Z, and be worth far more when you tire of it.

I guess money is a relative thing and I don't have enough of it to understand these kinds of mods on a relatively inexpensive car. In 18 months (or less) when the factory TT Z33 comes out, I hope you don't lose too much value or don't care.

The TT badge is cool, but I don't think the font will match any other badge on the car, so I would do something else. Maybe a custom license plate, that would be more readable from further away. I bet Z33Turbo or TurboVQ35 may not be taken yet...

Good luck with the install and I look forward to following your progress!

Jeffrey

I have an inside track who works for audi. He gave me a couple of logos and said to try them out.....what do you think?
If the logo was brushed aluminum it would almost match factory.

Is this official from Nissan that an TT Z33 is on the way? Haven't seen or heard any news and thought that no TT Z33 will be offered.

there is nothing wronmg with modding an inexpensive car.
i bought my first 91 MR as an NA for $2500. $23000 later, i had an autocross/track car that was faster ad could out handle anything on the streets. not to mention win numerous shows and some how run 12.1 on street tires, and an autcross suspension set up.

to each his own. And i doubt nissan will come out with a TT, most liekly SC.

It is more fun to build it up on your own. Hell, when iget a Z, i will do it all myself. Even if they do offer an SC or TT version.

I don't think there is anything official about the upmarket version of the Z33, although you can be sure there will be one. Maybe MR2 is correct and it will be a SC instead of TT. The previous generation was so successful, I'm don't know why they wouldn't do the same thing.

I think my perspective is the way it is because I am not mechanical at all and put a high value on reliability. I'm wary of the reliability of an aftermarket-modded car in my hands. If you've got the skills to give you peace of mind, more power to you.

Zraygo, I am definitely envious of all your mods.

I just keep thinking about a R34 Skyline though - 9,000 RPM redline, TT and AWD to put it down to the ground - ooh, ahh... Did anyone see that Best Motoring Video of the Porsche 996TT vs. the R34 and other exotica on the Tsukuba track? Great stuff and a case for OEM...

HAHAHA Ray! Nice to see you got your clutch and fly upgrade. When are you putting all those parts on? Looking good Ray.
