Default Idle

I dont know what the sound is. But when my car gets to normal operating temperature, I hear this sound. It ONLY can be heard at normal operating temperature. It's heard at idle only too. I've always heard a similar noise to this, but it seems like it has gotten a little louder.

It sounds likes this "tick a tick a tick a tick a"
You can really hear it ,if you're outside of the vehicle with your ear near the front/driver's side wheel.

I tried hunting the noise down with the hood up. But all I hear are the injectors firing. The noise seems to be coming from more so the bottom.

My car runs great, I have no f*** clue what this noise is. Anyone else have this noise? Sounds almost like rockers or something. I use 5w30 Mobil 1 syn and my oil level is good right now. Oil pressure is good at idle too.

ps: it is not the "clutch out, car in neutral" throwout bearing rattle sound that all 6 speeds have.

I just put the exact same complaint on another thread. I said it sounds like the timing chain, but i'm no mechanic. I stopped at a drive thru tonight and being up against the building the noise was killing me. i was almost gonna leave with out my food the embaressment was killing me.

my wifes 4 runner is a 99 with 92000 miles and sounds a lot quiter than mine.

I find it odd as well, b/c other than idle she runs nice and hard

It does suck though and i'm taking mine in for an oil change and i'm going to ask if they can look at it

if this is a normal noise i wonder if the maxima or any other nissan with this engine has the same thing?

As long as it's normal I'll be happy.
Didnt one guy have to get his motor replaced due to something similar?

The ticking on my engine is louder when its fully warmed up. Obviously I have to depress the clutch to hear it (damn throwout bearing is so loud). The "ticking" seems to have gotten a little louder.

Anyone else? Could it be syn oil? I use 5w30 mob1 as stated
