Default MT tranmission fluid and differential fluid

Does anyone know if the MT fluid and differential fluid Nissan uses in the Z is synthetic?

Is Royal Purples MaxGear fluid as good as their engine oil, or is there a better brand to use for MT fluid and differential fluid?

Thanks,
JasZ

DO NOT USE ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE NISSAN MT FLUID.

NO ONE ELSE MAKE 75-85. THE ONLY OTHER ONE I WOULD RECOMEND IS REDLINE 70-80.

The car manual says we can use 75W-90 and the MaxGear has fluid with that rating. Why would you have to use the Nissan stuff ?

Is the Nissan stuff synthetic?

Thanks,

I would recomend Original Nissan if not Red Line 70-80w. I use Royal Purple 75-90 and another type ( I think it was Valoline, Dealer put it in) in my previous Z and it made my gear really sticky and made the grind worse. I used Red Line after that and it was pretty good. I have played around with few different type of tranny fluid because of my grind and knochy issue on my previous Z and OE Nissan and Redline 70-80w was the best.

OE Nissan MT fluid is not synth.

Just my opinion and what I experienced.

I have been reading up a bit on this and the only thing that I noticed that might be a problem with the the GL-5 Royal Purple was the EP additives that could corrode copper sync parts, but their product info says their additives are non-corrosive as does Redline's. I've heard other people praise the RP tranny fluid, but I'm trying to be careful before doing this.

Thanks for your help.

You are absolutly right. That is why you should use the OE Nissan MT Fluid or Redline 70-80w (GL4 also).
