Default Torque Damper Installed Today....

I just installed a torque damper, and it only took a little custom modifications to get it just right. Now i have to modify my carbon fiber engine cover a little though.

There is a definite difference between before and after. I no longer have 60+% of the hard engine movements... that you could feel when you'd WOT in first, ar high rpm, or when changing gears. For 130 bucks i think it was well worth it. I am not an engineer by far, but i bet that the power transfer through the transmission to the ground is much smoother now. It definitately feels much smoother, and makes the car's drive much softer and luxurious.

I'll post some pics later when the camera recharges, and i'll post some more info about it.

Has anyone else installed one yet?

This is the first I've ever heard of one for the 350Z. Please post more info and pics when you can. Where did you get it?

I have mine installed too.
It's just great. Shifts are so much more precise and there is
no movement in my gearbox any more.
Very nice mod!

Torque dampners basically reduce the rocking of your engine when throttling. They are usually only installed on FWD cars though because of the way the driveline and engine are mounted.
I dont see this adding any gains to a Z?

Not looking for gains. Looking for less drivetrain twist when launching. I don't see how the one on 350zforums could do much though. It's very flimsy looking, not at all something I'd buy. I'd have to see how well it resisted torque movement.

I dont think we need engine dampners...have you guys ever seen a Z on the dyno hitting fuel-cut? The engine doesnt even move. My friends Celica on the dyno and street when it hits fuel-cut rocks violentely. Just a waste of $$ imo on the Z. Our engine mounts are very good.

I was thinking that the damper would actually transmit more vibration and maybe noise through the car due to this new connection of the motor to the frame. I guess I'm wrong!

I heard it added to the interior noise as well.

Im half thinking its got the same use as a grounding kit. a whole lot of feeling, and nothing measurable, possibly nothing at at all.
