Cusco is top notch stuff. Most differentials in Japan are made by only one of two companies. ATS and Kaaz. ATS has carbon LSD's which I love. All the advantages of a nice aggressive 1.5 way clutch type setup yet wonderfully smooth and chatter free. Also they handle much more heat which is important on extended track sessions (not that I will be tracking my Toyota anytime soon, it is just for street but I installed one just to test). ATS will be releasing a carbon unit at the end of summer from what I understand. For some reason the Z33 isn't high priority. Wierd. Anyway, the new Kaaz is 24 plate and is quite good and nicely priced. For most that is more than enough.

I used to have a 03 350Z Touring and now I got a new 04 Nismo 350Z Base because I was having transmission problems with my 03 which was an auto believe it or not. My 04 is a 6spd but she doesn't seem to grab right on launches and when I try to chirp second it feels like only one tire is really getting on the torque. From what the dealership tells me, the base Z doesn't have LSD but uses some sort of heat to do the job. I have no idea what they were talking about. But was wondering if I could add the LSD to my Z for better traction and power output.

It's a viscous type which means torque is transfered through a special fluid which reacts with heat/slip.

No LSD on the base model. You can upgrade to an LSD. Either find someone who got an aftermarket and buy their Viscous type or go aftermarket yourself.

What difference would adding say a Nismo LSD have on a base 350z when used for drag racing?

You would get a lower 60' time due to better traction.

Subject: Differential for Nissan 350Z

I just wanted to see if you had, or are working on, a differential for the Nissan 350Z?

Thank you for your interest in our products. We are currently working on a differential for the 350z platform. We do not have an expected date as of right now, but expect to have one shortly. Please continue to check with us for updates.
