Just got word that NISMO Japan now has a whole bunch of NA engine parts out for the VQ35DE - from fuel pumo to bearings, to 2 specs of heads, some pretty wild cams, VTC gears, etc etc etc

Cam Specs:

NISMO offers a range of camshafts for the VQ35DE engine.

First off the bat is the NISMO R Tune setup, which consists of 262 degrees of duration, and .426" lift. Increased mid range power makes it a perfect street setup.

Next up the ladder are NISMO's Spec 1 and Spec 2 setups. The Spec 1 setup features inlet cam specs of 276 degrees duration, and .433 " lift. The exhaust cam is 256 degrees duration with .413" of lift.

The Spec 2 cams are for the ultimate in top end power. The intake cam features a wild 284 degrees of duration, and .433" lift, while the exhaust cam features 268 degrees duration with .413" lift.

For those going for a custom head setup, NISMO also now offers 2 sets of cam blanks. These billet blanks are for those that want to have a cam ground to their own specs. The first set (Type A) can be ground to a max of 284 degrees if duration and .433" lift. the Type B is for competition use only, and can be ground to a max of 312 degrees of duration and .551 " lift. Type B is special order only.

I am still trying to figure out why the reverse staggered setup for the new cam grinds.....

Spec 1 and Spec 2 cams are special order only.

On this page of your website under cams. Shouldnt the R-tune be 262/256. Look at the item description. And would using a 276 degree cam require race gas?

 

Oh, i want to know about rasing my rpms to 8.5!!!!!!

 

New rods and that crank would be nice. You're going to need high lift cams for sure. If it's a street car, probably some "oh s__t!" bars for the passenger to hold onto during acceleration. And of course, a new tachometer. Doh!

One thing I noticed about those VTC gears, they say increased throttle response and timing to 55 degrees advance. I say, increased dependance on race fuel.

 

How much you think it would all add up to if i wanted a 8.5 redline? Somewhere around the 3.4g area? If i was reading correctly, i need the oil pan, headgaskets, crankshaft and possibly cams?

 

What exaclty is a vtc gear, and how hard is it to install?

 

oh my fing god! thats what im talking about vtc gears? are those just adjustable for timing or do they change the switchover point? 284 cams thats awesome, so im guessing nismo has been testing out some real parts all of a sudden.

 

From what I understand the VTC gears are not like the VTEC cam in a Honda motor. I think the 350Z's intake cam(s, 1 on each side) continously changes it's timing based on these gears.

I've heard proposals of running various cam profiles to take advantage of this, but I haven't researched duration or overlap changes to know if we can get even more agressive.

 

omfg. Nismo is actually coming out with cool stuff for the Z. YES. YES. YES. Time to rev to 8K and beyond.

 

the cam in and of itself will not require race gas no. It will most definately require new fuel and possibly timing tables on the ecu (either via custom reflash, Emanage, standalone, etc )

what are the chances of you guys putting together tested engine packages> i.e. lightweight crank, con rods bolts, and head gasket tested safe to 8k rpms for a discount group price, and a stg2 internals plus stage one tested to 8.5k?

 

there is no way to do group buys on these, sorry
