Techno ECU Installed...
Well, decided to go with Techno....sent out the ecu got it installed today. I had them install the Crawford file with no timing adjustment, increased redline, drive by wire fix, remove speed limiter and had them add more fuel down low and less up top..
I just got back from driving the car and I can tell you that it feels fantastic...Just looking at consult I can see that she is richer down low buy about 7% at idle and up top she is perfect at 100%...
I will be dynoing the car on Sunday and post results. I just dynoed the car without the ECU reset, so we will see what was really gained...
Webcarconnection should also have his ECU back today...I hope his combination of cams and the Techno ECU are jsut as favorable...
I think my experience was good becuase, Doug and Mike (mjedens) dealt with all of the BS of back and forth back and forth until they got it as good as its gonna get...
I am very happy and their customer service was fantastic...
Thanks Tadashi...

Here is the dyno with addition of the Plenum and headers, it is compared to the last dyno with the mods listed on sig.
Hey Blownaway,
your mod list is ENDLESS! It takes too long to read all that!
Alright, so here is a question, What kind of power increase is possible with the Technos for Z's without cam's.
Say a Z, like mine, with intake, plenum, pulleys, cats and exhaust?
Basically everything that isn't too labor intensive. Is it worth it to spend the money for the technos w/o cam's?

Yes for three reasons...
8-10 HP prooven by Doug himself at Crawford (His word means allot)
7100 Rev Limit
Removed Speed Limiter
Also its all ready for when you want to add additional mods...
Regarding the mod list in my sig, people are always asking me via Instant message what I have, this way makes it easy.

Thats right... I receive it yesterday and the car feels great... About the Dyno the car practicly stay the same but the hp stay on up to 6900 rpms... the best of it is when I run on the street, you can feel the car pushing between gears and feel like 7100 rpms is not enough
btw I only have the "limited Spec" (rev. limiter, Speed limiter and TB drive by wire fix) Fuel, timing, valve timing, ect. are stock!
Blownaway let me know how goes your car on the dyno with the TS "Full Spec"
I just installed mine yesterday and was very happy with the results the extra 500 rpm makes a difference...I had the works as mine had a bad lean problem....dyno next week....
heres the dyno before the TS ecu

hey guys tell me something. when you did your ecu flash did you request or customize the items to be reflashed.also if i brought
what would i get basic and would it cost more for additional work and with my mods will it help me curious

you fill out a form, that lets them know what mods you have , I also included a copy of my last dyno so they could see the A/F and adjust fuel accordingly. I think the reflash is all the same price, its just a matter of what you want done..I didnt want them to add timing, as I run spray every now and then at the track
Typically the ECU flash is to optimize the current modifications that you have on the car.
many users have found that they would like to control the A/F ratio a little better for peace of mind.
when you place the order, list off your modifications and basically tell them what you would like to see in your end result.
the TB control is to allow the throttle body to keep open at WOT, because it was found out that from the factory, its not opening at much as it should be.
Ignition timing can be changed, as well as the rev limiter, speed governor, as well as the variable timing switchover.
there is still some inherient 'learn' of the ECU. but the original feedback control values that the factory ECU tries to implement are now very limited and will allow you to take full advantage of intake bolt ons.
you can also get your ECU duplicated even with your immobilizer code
as a spare.. or what not.. there are also FI programs available...

Cheston - my tuner did not know how to adjust the TB setting when we had my ecu flashed - would this be something TS could do for me (or given my mods, do I need it?). Also, is the relearn function "dumbed down" as an inherent byproduct of doing the reflash to begin with, or is that also a variable that can be set?

Hey Adam-
The TB/Drive-by-wire settings were found during Technos' R&D... not sure if they released that info, probably due to it being proprietary code at the time. Most of the new Nissan's that are coming out, (our Z included) have the throttle flap to start closing after 5500 rpms.. even happens during WOT. Technos says the reasoning behind this was Nissan wanted to reduce the amount of power (hp & tq) the engine was producing, so it would make the driver shift before hitting the rev limiter.
as for the learning function, the feedback is a set value, was dumbed down significantly, although not completely eliminated, in order to create a safety buffer. Your tuner will have to try to find it... but its there. While the Reflashed ECU will still learn and adapt after programming to the mods you have on the vehicle. theoretically, i believe you could eliminate the feedback completely, but then you risk losing preventative measures, such as knock-retard, and the minor leaning/fatting of the fuel curves.
TS has two versions of the ECU out now.
F-spec and L-spec.
Lspec is just
- 7100 Rev Limiter (500rpm Increase)
- Speed Limiter Removal
- Drive By Wire Re-mapping
- Stock Fuel, Timing and CVTCS map (no changes)
Fspec is all that, plus the TB control, and changes to fuel, timing, etc. i also believe they can now control idle rpm...
Cheston - thanks for the heads up - any way for me to tell what was done to the ecu without sending it in to TS (I am most concerned with the learning variable and the TB variable?
Perhaps I'll PM the guy who tuned it as well (he is here on the east coast, and is one of TS's dealers)

Adam- i know there are some obdII port readers that work with our Z that has software that can monitor throttle position... i think TS used a similar device...
WebCarConnection:.. double check with danny at technosquare... i know for a fact the F-spec does.. i am not sure about L-spec..

webcar make sure you dyno after the ecu is in, I did today and they completely screwed up my ecu, I had a A/F of 13.1 N/A and an A/F of 11.9 on spray I dynoed today and my A/F is 11 n/A and under 10 on spray I am running super Rich, I have no idea how this could have happened. I sent them my Dyno so they could see where to add fuel and where to take some away...Its almost like they think Im turbod? IM pissed Now I have to send the ECU back to them. I didnt want to go through this ****, thats why I wanted to wait...but on the suggestion others I went for the Techno,...I should have just listened to myself.
