Clutch And Flywheel Ideas........
okay, i am ready to get into clutch ideas....
wants:: a lighter flywheel , that (results) will perform better than oem, BUT will not be insanely noisey (cement truck)...
i have heard the tilton (at 8lbs!?!?!) is spinning up ultra fast and hard, but makes some pretty serious churning/chattering sounds....
i want to maintain as much of the g35 near-luxo feel/sound as possible, but will sacrifice some of it....
what's the ideal weight over the stock fly?? (oem = 40+lbs??)
and, what type/brand should i go with (vortech kit will be here this coming week, fujitsubo exhaust sometime before christmas (lol-NOT)
thanks, as usual

teh stock clutch AND flywheel together weighs a tad over 45 lbs....
stock flywheel is 23 lbs. I had the Unorthodox one in my car for a little while (just removed as I have a new ATS clutch/flywheel combo coming), and despite its weight 912 lbs), it was not significantly louder that stock.

Anyway... Does anyone know how much torque the stock setup will handle? Will a Vortech or ATI at high boost still be ok?
The JWT is definately under consideration.
Just thinking how futre proof I want to be.
I do intend to build up the bottom and with TTs
all in one shot, so >600 crank is well within possiblity.

I would rate the twin as very streetable yes - ask Skidazzle - he recently got one from us.
The triple is even easier to drive, though admittedly more clutch than anyone realistically needs.

any leads on where to shop for one??? (my car has just turned 500 miles, and i plan to go vortech this month; the unit arrives this week)..
i wanna have all my ducks lined up......
((now, wh's gonna hook me up w/ a fujitsubo exh. and Y???)) ... will pay good $$$
For a Vortech setup , I would expect that something like the JWT combo ~$800 would be all you'd ever need.
I'd only consider spending the ~$2k for an ATS combo for a TT setup which can produce substantially more TQ out of the box and especially with re-worked internals (ie. lower CR +higher boost).
The Ceramic Tilton setup seems very well suited for the ulimate NA application were the lower interia makes a bigger diff overall.
Though for "streetablity" it still sounds "grabier than either a JWT or ATS combo. I'd love to use the Tilton dual carbon, but ~$3400 is just a little too high for may consideration.

an ATS twin for NA (stock displacement) is overkill yes. I have an ATS single disk on order for my own car.
BTW, the ATS's are single, twin or triple carbon disks, are larger than Tilton, and also include integrated lightweight flywheels as well
We carry them if anyone is interested, and also have 5 Fujitsubo cat backs in stock for the Z as well
