Default clutch release?

I have a 2004 track model, and the clutch starts to disengage all the way at the top of the throw. I have a buddy who just purchase a new g35 and his clutch releases more towards the middle of the throw. I was wondering if mine was abnormal because its a lot harder to go from a full stop (tons of clutch feathering to get a smooth take off) and it harder to get perfect shifts, compared to his clutch.

There is a new clutch pedal assembly that is now installed if (or when) the transmission is replaced on a 350Z. This pedal assembly is designed to give more freeplay at the top of the pedal travel. The new transmission has a solid cast clutch release lever instead of the original design stamped steel one. The new lever is more rigid and can give you a firmer feel at the pedal as well as a more complete clutch release when your left foot is on the floor.
I'm not sure if this will fix your concern but if you grenade your transmission you can find out.

Do a search on this... there are other people like you out there. I'm one of them. You get used to the high engagement after awhile
