True story, I gotta tell about this... its just too good...

The person (remaining nameless not on this or any other board) had nismo exhast, rt cats, and jwt pop charger installed on persons car. really into street drag racing for $... came in 2 weeks ago to say whats up and brag about some "VQ35 SPEC" pistons the person ordered...

I said, What kind?

person said... "VQ35 Pistons"

I said, ok...

came by early this week... said they were installed and running awesom...

I said, "When did you get your pistons installed?"

"Last week man"

I said, "How long did it take?"

"Couple of days"

I said, "" "I gotta phone call"

then person left eventually...

came in today...

"man I got smoked today, I need more power"

I said, "well im afraid to put anything else on your car not knowing what type of pistons you have I do not want to blow your motor"

"VQ65 pistons"

I said, "ok, gotta phone call brb"

I got off the phone... said "Let me see your keys"

Went out to the car... Popped the hood... looked and said...



"engine bay looks as clean as when you got the car, there are no scratches on any of the bolts showing they were removed, none of the hoses show any sign of the clamps being moved, no scratches showing the motor had been dropped, bolts on the plenum look never to be touched, how much did you pay?"

person said "900 for the pistons, 1200 for install"

handed me the magazine the pistons were ordered from... i cant remember the name... but i whipped out my cell phone and called them... said "What pistons do you have for the Z33, VQ35 motor" man on the phone said "We have 8.5:1 pistons for that motor they are our racing piston line" I said "Thank you sir" hung up the phone...

turned and said to the person... "Dude, it does not look like your motor was touched at all, If you put these pistons in your car without a turbo or supercharger which you do not have your car would turn on and go put put and then stall..."

then proceeded to say "Man I got jacked whats up with that"....


so yeah... I dont know if he was just talking jive or what... but... it makes a good story either way... if this person is completely serious I hope the person gets their money back and gets the pistons back... I feel really bad for the person if it is really true... but if just talking out of their bootay why bother?

It is scary that some people have time and energy to dream up something like that. Congrats Jason on dealing with the situation in a professional manner.

 

So your saying if you put 8:5:1 piston without F/I you will not be able to run your car around. I had a friend driving a daily driven civic with 8:1comp piston for awhile until his turbo kit came in. So why wouldn't it work for us.

 

He is saying that the kept the pistons and didn't install them.

 

I know what he is saying but in the part about him having 8:5:1 comp, he's says the motor would go put put and stall. So that looks like hes trying to say if he did have them in he would not be able to drive around daily with them. I am trying to ask way not.

 

I dont get that reasoning either, he'd just be getting left behind by even stock Z's with the power loss n/a. J, you need to tell the dude to lay off the Gran Turismo lol. Funny story, thanks for sharing lol

Jason's story is a bit hard to follow... but it was true. I was standing there the whole time trying to size this guy up, but he sure seemed sincere!

If he was smart, he would pay a shop to examine the pistons, then sue the hell outta of that shop for shitty business practices.

 

I'm sure you can still run with 8.5:1 piston in our VQ35, without any FI. How well it runs will depend on the fuel management.

 

I'm sure he was full of it. There's F&F influenced idiots like that everywhere. I remember when a dufus like that stopped by my buddy's shop begging for a fuel rail install 'cuz he's got a race tonight, yo, that he's gotta win and represent'

He promised to pay for it the next day when he makes money off the race. Needless to say he was given a no.

If this guy got ripped off, good. Weak hand, dollar bye bye.
