Why is my dealership so weak?
So I called my dealership and asked if they would install a JWT Pop Charger. They said no way we don't do aftermarket stuff like that. Then he said it would void the powertrain warranty which is why I bought a new car in the first place! Do you guys think I could just have someone else install it then uninstall itwhen I took it in for servicing? This really hacks me off. I have the money for some decent mods, but now I am handcuffed because of my weak *** dealership. Any suggestions....

Sorry to hear that, it's really hit or miss with dealers. My dealer seems cool about mods and is willing to install. It's kind of a long drive to Georgia though

So there are dealers out there that will continue a warranty with certain mods.

You can definately install it yourself. It is a very easy DIY job. Bolt off, bolt on, that's it.

My dealer's the same way. I asked about pop chargers and whether it would affect warranty. Neither of the service advisors knew what a pop charger was and automatically went with the answer that if I did anything to the car that wasn't through Nissan, it would void the warranty.
So, my car's stock right now.

In 1975 The U.S. Congress passed the Magnuson-Moss Act that gives car owners protection against dealers refusing to warranty there products with aftermarket products.. The dealer must prove that the item is responsible for the problem rather than simply making the claim that it is the source of the problem. The F.T.C. at 202-326-3128 should be consulted.
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act says that a manufacturer cannot deny a warranty claim because of an aftermarket part, unless the part in question actually CAUSED the problem that the warranty claim is about.
My car has a fair amount of mods and I'm supercharged... My dealer doesn't care and thinks it's cool ... I've done warranty work too.. alignment pull to right, gas door will not open, broken vent.. stuff like that.. they haven't given me a hard time about those. Now, if I had an engine problem I guess I would be walking on thin ice

I want to have fun with the car that is why I bought it. When the dealership said it would void my warranty that put me in a pretty bad mood, but now I have a little daylight!

this is a good piece of legislation but dont just walk into your dealer saying "magnuson this moss that" try to be nice to them and get to know the management and the service techs. they are ppl who will go out of there way to help you out if your nice to them. i have an excellent relationship with the gm and the sales staff so if i ever get any problems from service i just let those guys know and they get stuff done.
