Question Upgraded Radiator??? Anyone

I was just wondering if anyone has upgraded their radiator yet and could tell me if there is any modification to the factory cross member that needs to be done. Also, any benefits or actuall cooling characteristics that you got over stock would be great if you could describe those.

bump, because I want to know too I think a lower engine temperature could help with FI problems.

Koyo is releasing their radiator as soon as the boat arrives in port. I have one from the show circut showing up this week for myself. I'll post pics and pricing once it shows up. Expect a sale price of ~$450.

Do you think this would help with the overheating on the track? The intercooler still blocks the radiator, so even if it's thicker, it's still going to suffer from reduced air flow.

Sure, a bigger radiator could only help in my opinion, despite being partially blocked by an intercooler.

keeping the temp lower is not the radiators job - thats the thermostats job.

For guys doing heavy forced induction or doing frequent track days, the colder thermo + a radiator with more coolant capacity will help, as there is more cycling of the coolant going on, and will do away with the plastic endtanks that (I think) the Z has.

I don't know about the ATI kit but if the radiator is wider and the additional thickness moves the radiator closer to the front of the engine then the IC piping for the Vortech kit will hit the radiator fans. You would probably have to either get a lower profile aftermarket fan or modify the mounting somehow.

Larger radiator = more volume
More volume = more water
More water = more weight
so...
Larger radiator = more weight.
I think with increases cooling capability, it's worth it.

well, my radiator cracked yesterday and I got it replaced today under warranty. They said that they have been having problems with the altimas doing the same thing. Wonder what could have caused this, I have never hit anything.

I had my stock readiator replaced by another stock one after mine opened up like a river all over my engine. Anyway, I wonder about the i/c fitment issues with these thicker radiators?

Sorry Jason but the radiators one and only job is to lower the temp of the incoming water.
