12 is rich 13s are cool 14s start watching 15s are BAD.

just a basic run down. once you get over the 14ish a/f you need to fix it or bad things start happening. you also will not make your ideal power there either

under wot of course

At what point in your modding do you need to start looking at your A/F ratio? I am currently looking into a Borla TD exhaust as well.

It's really an ongoing thing. You don't want to do a lot to your car then start worrying about your A/F. It's something that ideally should be monitored all along the modification process.

So Chris, you are saying I should begin monitoring my A/F ratio now? What would be good to help monitor this? I am totally new to the engine mod thing. I have seen some posts about the Apexi S-AFC, is this good? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, that is good, but I think that a better product is the Dynojet Wideband Commander. Neither one are cheap though. You are looking at around $550 after tax.

Could you guys post some pix of where our AEM A/F gauge is located. I'm curious to see what it looks like in person. With the AEM kit, do you have control over the A/F ratios meaning can you adjust if necessary? I am new to this whole thing. Any further suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

the aem only allows you to view what they are running at. you will need another device like safc2 or an emanage to alter the af ratio

Here's a picture of Jeff@Performance's AEM A/F Gauge. His A-Pillar is CF, but you'll get the idea.

i would opt for the safc2 so that you can adjust your settings...that guage is pretty nice but if you can't adjust your settings is it kind of limited for that price

So from what you guys are saying is that I should go with the SAFC2. Doesnt this also show what your A/F ratio is as well as a bunch of other readings? I think this only runs about $250 on ebay. How hard is the SAFC2 to hook up and tune? I suppose I would need to take the car to someone to have them tune it since I am totally clueless to this. Any more help is greatly appreciated.

I didn't know that the SAFC2 actually showed your A/F? I thought that it was just a tool to allow you to make changes to the A/F maps but you had to get the A/F reading from another source? I could be wrong, but that is why I was opting for the GReddy eManage system and seperate A/F gauge?

safc does not read af you have to read them from another source. it does monitor knock though which is helpful. install is very difficult if you are not familiar with electronics pin layouts THIS IS NOT DIY you have to hack up the wiring harness on the ecu and do not want to mess it up.

I guess that about sums that up. Im not sure I like the idea of spending over $400 for just the AEM gauge. How good/reliable is the Greddy A/F gauge?

Yeah, I was correct. The SAFC2 is just like the GReddy eManage in that it's a piggyback unit to the ECU which allows you to make changes the the fuel maps. It does not, however actually show you your A/F reading. You will need a seperate A/F gauge like the AEM or Dynojet gauges to actually see what your A/F is.

its not difficult but you do not even want to attempt it if you dont know what your doing. messing with the ecu wiring harness can be very difficult and costly to repair
