Default tachometer question need serious help

ok here is my situation. dealer hit my car in front. nothing major and the parts were fixed to my satisfaction. actually better then expected.

driving back i have noticed a diference in my engine. the tachometer is doing some strange things. frist off its idle at 1500 rpm i don't know if this is the natural state. when i press the accelerator the tachometer goes up but when it goes down it dips below 1500 then it goes back up and then down again.

is that normal??

and when i shift a similar thing happends. lets say i go from 3rd to neutral. the tachometer goes to 1500 then goes to 2k then dips down again.

i don't think that is normal and on top of that when i just went for a quick drive the "SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT" came on.

any ideas? i will probably go to the service dept. on friday. anything would help thanks. when it rains it pours.

They need to hook the consult up to it, and pull that code.

Is the rev's fluxing around 1500???? No clue why it's sitting at that high and idle, as our cars high idle is only 1kish.

Give us more details!

Default ECU Reset?

Perhaps try resetting the ECU??

The steps are on Technosquare's website....

http://www.technosquareinc.com/350reset.htm

The dealer should be able to fix this up - it may be something as simple as a loose fitting...may by the MAF sensor.

Idling at 1500 is too high.

Best of luck.

sits at 1250 i tested no ac everything else off. i was thinking it should be sitting below 1k.

anyways when i start car (warmed up) stays at 1250 then when i rev goes to whatever rpm it needs to but then when it drops it fluctuates. meaning goes to 1250 then to 1500 then back down.

is that right? i didn't think it should flucuate like that.

when i drive its a different story. example: i am in 3rd 3500 rpm i release accel pedal. and move to neutral. tachometer does the following. guage drops to 1500 up to 2000 then back down to 1250.

also when i am in 3rd or 4th and release accel pedal while in gear the car gives me a nice jolt. and it seems the rpm gets whacky and jumps down about 100 rpm.

ideas what that could be.
