I had a friend that told me that having a Turbo Timer on a N/A car is still benificial... is this true?

A turbo timer does not control boost. It allows the engine to idle after the ignition key is taken out, so that the oil within the turbo can cool down properly!

 

yeah i know its all about cooling the oil that is why i asked him why the **** i would need 1... but he told me that it juss helps the oil cool down a bit in the engine... i dont think he is right juss wanted to ask you guys.. btw he has 1 in his N/A GSR soon to be turbo'd...

I've always thought it to be true...allowing your car to cool down before shutting down would be beneficial.

 

It would have a slight effect if you had just flogged your car hard and parked it to get out, it would allow the engine to get back down to normal operating temp. However, for just cruising around town, it isnt really needed.

 

All you have to do is drive your car easy when you know you are close to your destination.

 

it also has a theft deturent function.

 

Hmmm...anyone have this done on a N/A Z yet?

 

see, thats why I wrote the failsafe, because sometimes I have no Idea what I'm talking about!

 

probably wouldn't work too well for 6mts who don't trust their parking brakes.
