I agree with the JWT cams not giving 300 hp by themselves. But with ported and polished heads along with bigger valves why wont it then? If i upgraded all my springs and everything am i better off now going with the tomei cams?

Thanks Glen

Glen please keep us updated of your work as it progresses. I too have a 5AT Z and was planning on going a similar route as far as the heads go. Hopefully yours will produce some nice gains.

Well the machine shop i went to got 20 percent more air flow out of the heads. They told me with the bigger valves i should have a good amount of power to be gained along with the head job. They told me the stock heads dont flow as good as some people may have thought. If any of you are needing a good machine shop i have the number for the shop i got my work done at. They use a flow bench to port and polish the heads perfectly along with the intake and intake runner. The shop can also put bigger valves in or put the factory ones in at a radius cut to make some more power also. I will be picking them up tomarrow and will take pics of the heads for you guys.

Also the shop does the work for a fair price, and works on hot rods and imports daily.

Thanks Glen

Zmego1985- either you are dense or you like throwing money out.

If you have any sense left you will start researching FI and stop trying to tell everyone you can make 350HP by polishing heads and bolt ons! You can buy EVERY bolt on made for the Z to date and polish the heads and I can GAURANTEE you wont make 350.

And I know for a fact that Phoenix himself has done work at the offcial Nissan testing grounds here in AZ so Im sure hes more qualified than you and I dont blame him for not answering your badgering emails.

Anyone here who knows anything about moding a 350Z is just laughing at you.....as if our 3.5L VQ isnt taxed already at 287HP and 274 twist

Good luck buddy!

You validated the initial posters 350 claim with your comments and also mentioned being at the 300+ NA stage after your polished heads.

Why dont you get those dudes who work on those Hot Rods to work on your brain after they are done with your import

Hey Einstein its ported and polished heads and if anyone needs their brain worked on its you, because you cant read. Its ok though alot of people are dumb with nice cars your just one of them.

I said 300 plus not 350 just in case no one told you yet there are numbers in between 300-350. Maybe you need a lesson in counting, because it seems you cant count or read correctly!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to see your Dyno!

While your over there ask them if they can paint some of those red hot rod flames on your Z....that mod should put you where you need to be at the wheels

And calling me stupid is real funny coming from a guy who is spending more $$$ to get less results than a more cost and performace effective FI system!

Hey let me ask?...since you go to the Hot Rod place to work on your Z do you go to the Ford or Chevy dealer for oil changes?

Well i dont want to blow your mind but i do my own oil changes. You know that is possible just, because you probably cant. Also i dont want to go forced induction, BECAUSE I DONT WANT TO BLOW MY DAM MOTOR @SSHOLE. So back the f#ck off, because you have no valid point here except that your more hot headed then me.

WHATS NEXT YOUR MOMMA JOKES LOL WHAT A LOSER YOU ARE. Oil changes at a chevy and ford dealer lol thats funny. Only someone of you brains could think of that.

Blonde moment huhhhhhhhhhhhh lol.

actually the esprit VQ35 put down around 350ish NA hp to if I recall correctly........the nismo crate engine has like 450 crank hp NA.........so it's not impossible just costly compared to FI.

You're heading down the right path... 350NA IS possible.

However, Esprit ran 272 duration cams, higher compression, and revved it beyond 7200rpm. Plus we never got confirmation whether it did, or did not have reworked heads. It was a MEAN motor.

For us to hit that, it's going to take what the FI guys are having to do... rods, pistons, etc...

Thanks Glen

I am really going to hate watching you get disappointed...

Dude, since the motor is pulled apart... sell those JWTs and get bigger cams. Then your fantasy will come true, otherwise... forget about it.

So PhoenixINX, would I be correct in assuming that in order to achieve those kinds of gains
O-natural, you would or could spend upwards of 10 large?

After getting my ECU setup pretty good, I personally think the headwork could push my car into the 300 rwhp range with proper tuning and my current mods. I think you would be surprised at how much better my car runs now Phoenix. I wouldn't be surprised if I hit 290+ with my stock tires on. After that last reflash I gained so much power that my trap speeds went up 3+ mph and that was in much warmer temps then I had been running in, plus more wheel spin off the line, and I was already at 276 rwhp before the reflash plus my 19" wheels. Just so everyone knows, I was running a bit too rich and I had it leaned out a bit, man what a difference.

Easily, and definately if you pay someone to do the work.
