Default Traction control switch

If you hold down the traction button for about 15 seconds it auto goes off. Then when you repress it doesnt come one until you turn the ignition of and on again. Any idea what this is all about???

I wish I could turn off the damn TCS permanently.

someone on one of these forums has a deactivator that deactivates TCS forever until you turn it back on even if you turn your car off.

I am not looking for a deactivator, but thanks anyway

What I would like is for someone to confirm the following:

1. with the car running, press and hold the tcs button for about 20 seconds.

After 20 seconds, does the light go off?????

2. If the life goes off, does repressing the button reactivate the tcs??

okay..... I think we all got you wrong..... the correct operation for the VDC is:

1. Press the button once, then it is off....
2. Press the button twice, then it is on....
3. Press the button three times, then it is off again..... etc

Process 1 + 2 will just keep on repeating themselves and the duration for you to press the button will be 1 second... and it always work like that....

That means... if the light goes off, and when you press the button again, it will come back on again.... it will never disappear or stay there no matter how long you hold the button for....

And all of us hope that the longer we press the button, the VDC will be off forever..... just like the one on the RX-8...

the TCS/VDC module we sell maintains the state of the switch regardless of how many times you turn the car on and off.

Meaning that, if you have this module installed and you turn the TCS/VDC off, it will stay off until you turn it back on. Even if it's a year later.

The only time I turn mine on is when it's raining. Otherwise I never touch that button.

The guy is asking if anyone has held in the TCS button for 20 seconds and then been able to turn it back on afterwards without restarting the car.

I don't understand what the problem is. Is it that much of a hassle to push a button once you start it up?

You definitely don't understand. NO one thinks pushing the button is hard. Did you read my post above, the guy just asked a simple question.

Here is my result, starting with TCS turned off (light on) hold for 20 seconds and then light goes off and will not turn back on until I restart the car. So it seems common but I don't know why it happens.

Sorry about my first post on the thread, I was answering the ReavTek question and not yours. I am sure that did not help the direction it has taken.

I would think it might happen so that you don't accidently hit the button during a track session and turn the TCS back on.

It shuts it off and doesn't let you turn it back on till you turn off the car and restart it then it is back on.

I understand. But some guys are saying that TCS/VDC never 'completely' shuts off (ie it comes on in extreme conditions)
