Hi, I just bought a white 350z second hand from a private deal. There are serveral problems with the vehicle, sush as the worn out seat, the latch, grease marks, etc.
I called couple of dealerships and they refuse to repair my car if its uninsured.
Any comments on this? I dun understnad why they won't service my car. What if I bought my car for track applications and I dun want to have my car registered, they dun fix them?

did you tell them that your car was uninsured? ie- "i would like to have some problems fixed on my car, but i dont have any insurance."
i dont think they would routinely check insurance before they do service on a car. the only time i ever have to show my proof of insurance is when i am getting my safety check.
i would suggest that you just schedule your car and dont mention the insurance part.

If you bought a car specifically for the track and it was not registered for the street, they certainly won't want to work on it for warranty purposes.
Find another dealer to take it to and don't even bring up the subject of insurance. I've never had a dealer or any other shop ask me if the car was insured prior to working on it.

If you are paying for it, i dont see why they wouldn't work on the car. I have never had a mechanic ask whether i had insurance. I dont see why you dont have insurance either but thats a different story i guess

The Dealer has a responsiblity to the public to make sure the autos in their care are insured.
Prior to leaving the dealership they have to verify that there is insurance and the driver has a valid drivers license. To allow the car to leave there showroom uninsured or in the hands of an unlicensed driver, put all the liability on them.
Appears that they are applying the same process to repairs and warranty work. If during a test drive, who covers the car ?
Just don't just think about the physical damages, but the liability insurance. The shop knows the rule of law and doesnt want to be responisble for the damages done to others.
How long have you owned the auto? If less than 30 days then you are probably covered under your own policy as a newly acquired auto. If you just bought it, tell them that you have the automatic 30 day coverage but that you need to get the car in tip top shape prior to the agent's inspection to add the car to your policy.
I hope this helps.
Good Luck
