aceman - I think I speak for everybody when I say what you're doing is greatly appreciated. Would you mind making a new thread for just what your doing tonight on the dyno and posting the link here? In that new thread, you can explain what is being done, an after-dyno explanation based on your observations, and of course post up the dyno charts for all of them.

Here you guys go for the lower plenum porting. Did not do too bad.

This was on a bone stock car.

Here is the stock dyno of a 2003 350z and the dyno of the ported lower plenum.

The ECU was reset in between each pull.

Looks like we made 3hp and 4tq.

I see you finally did a comparison dyno run...

It's been so long I'm going to have to go back and re-read your posts to remember what you did exactly.

That's it!!! 15 freekin' pages and all we got was 4 hp!!!
Where's the other two dudes and where is the MREV2 control test?

Does this mean that all the spacers that have been advertised at 10+ hp increase is bull hockey??? Are we to assume that a Motordyne spacer is a 4 HP, $250+ modification???

Hell my car would be faster just because my wallet is lighter. Oh yeah, the car now weighs 3oz less from all the aluminium removed from the intake.

More test, I dare y'all to do it!!!

You seem awfully bitter... I can tell you for one, the test that was done on my car was no B.S. and the MREV2 made about 12-13hp over baseline... car never removed from the dyno.

The Voice of Wisdom has spoken. All hale the goal oriented idiot.

Dude, if you think it's hard reading 15 pages of what somebody else has been working his *** off accomplishing, then I wouldn't be surprised if you found the task of turning big rocks into little rocks a bit on the intellectual side.

Until you do the reasearch and take the time, energy, effort, and money to do something yourself, STFU

wth kind of complaint is this? no one's interested in your whining. no one forced you to read 15 pages. go back to zaino-ing your car.

This modification isn't just about peak HP and torque. In fact, peak numbers could be unchanged as long as more torque is created in the midrange. The MREV 2 makes as much as 12 HP at various RPM. The DIY can too.

Second point, with a DIY plenum, your cost isn't the $300+ charged by you-know-who, but maybe a hundred bucks for a used plenum and some hard work. In fact, this modification can be a no cost modification. Sell your stock plenum and completely zero out the cost.

Remember that this whole thing started because I believed that I could create my own MREV for a fraction of the cost. In December, my local speed shop will have their dyno back in operation, and I will provide "before and after" charts. Aceman's results demonstrate that this approach WORKS. Hopefully, my results will provide further evidence.

Hey bilinghm long time no see, cant wait to see your results

To the upset guy above, there is no need to be so angry. What me and Bilinghm and people like us are trying to do is give the 350z community unbiased results. Stuff like this can only benefit everyone and it gives people more ideas ( think outside the box ) we all win in the end.

It does work, and what i need to do is go back down to the shop and get them to do a overlay of stock and the ported lower plenum. I forgot to get that printed out. Im sure it makes more power in the mid range and that is what counts more than anything. Under the curve is more important than peak HP.

I will see if i cant get the overlay up.

Thanks
Aceman

I don't think you all understood the point of my post. I just came across this and was absolutely thrilled with the subject. It is refreshing to see some people take the initiative and be creative instead of being sheep like 90% of the people on this board.

I've done the searches and I've done the research, i know the MREV/spacer is a good modification.

My complaint was, the post was started in April. Here it is August. It would have been nice to see the other two gentlemen dyno their handiwork. Or, instead of a dyno why not go to a track and do a before and after test. There are formulas to adjust for weather.

I think everyone that responded to this post missed the critical factor... this was not a "spacer" dyno test - it was a ported lower manifold... I don’t even think Tony boasts as much about the MREV2 as everyone (including me) has about the spacers... Don’t confuse the 2 - the spacer mod is definitely a GREAT bang for the buck!!! As far as my research on the ported (with or without polished) lower collector... the jury is still out. I haven’t seen enough viable data to convince myself it is a real winner... Motordyne's line of spacers however has proven results all over the place.
