For anyone who hasn't tried to do this on their own yet, this is a great way to do it. Very easy. Good tips OP

Is this for manual cars? Also, will switching to synthetic like MT-90 help smooth out the shifting?

Sometimes from 1st to 2nd, I can't shift and it seems to stall.

Thumbs up

Great DYI - thanks!

Just did my rear diff this weekend using the funnel + hose method. No problems. I went over the rear wheel (not thru the spokes) with the hose and had a tube that fit the fill port really well so I didn't need to kill a Sharpie. The process is easy but takes time for fluid to run down with only gravity helping, so be prepared for a long wait while it slowly goes in. Try to run the hose so it has a smooth downward slope the whole way. This is a 2 person job: 1 pouring at the funnel, while the other is ensuring the tube stays in the fill port. Make sure to have the cap ready to screw back in when done to minimize the dripping from the slight overfill.

I used Redline MT90 75W90 GL-5 for my factory VLSD pumpkin. Per the FSM it should take about 1.5 quarts. I had about .25 left when finished, but we spilled some during the setup process. Seems our zip ties at the funnel were not tight enough at first so leakage occurred. Also at one point I moved the hose to encourage better flow but threw off the alignment with the fill port so more spilled out Shop towels to the rescue!
