Just an update... Havnt had any problem with water soaking the filter, even after car washes. During a heavy ran on interstate i just pull over and direct the flex tube away just to be safe but all is good!

I spray a liter/min of fluid right into the plenum at WOT. Trust me the rain flying into this duct and outside of a filter isn't going to do anything! LOL.

is it really worth it to have to pull over to pull the tubing back?? imho not at all even the diy to the grill not worth it... if your doing it for a gain on your NA then it would be one of the last things i would do to try and squeek out a little more then the guy next to me... when i was 17 i rocked an aem true CAI with a bypass valve and was still super freaked in bad weather for min gains... you should therm wrap the intake too since you already did it keep the air cold...
