good to know.....mocked up a spreadsheet of swap cost between 2jz and lq4.....
read a thread in supra forums about a guy with 350z complaining about overheating under hood with 2jz
the only things that are really stopping me from doing a swap in my car is
the work....i can probably do all of it myself but i am too lazy...i had to install extended studs and spacers the other day and honestly i never want to do it again.
the cost.......yeah.......the money you put in to a depreciating asset sounds silly.

Noobish question for future planning on an LS swap. Is there enough room in a mounted LS for twin turbo's right off the exhaust manifolds if you were to go with a custom fabbed set similar to say GTM manifolds which had the turbo's extremely close to the block?
I've seen either a single turbo up front or twins in the far rear, but not twins similar to how the VQ's are typically mounted, figured this was due to space constraints?
Turbo's would be probably GT3071's or GT35's from a GTM TT kit.
Best recommendation for kit to go with in that kinda intended setup? Sikky or other...

Problem is I have no idea what this plug went to or what its for and I cannot find a pinout for it. I have searched all over the interwebz and gone through the factory service manual and nothing. Does anyone have any idea what this plug is for? It is located where the stock ecu is mounted but doesn't plug into it.

Rarely asked LS/LQ swap info *please speak with experience*
I have an '03 350z with 137k miles on it. I absolutely love the car and I am considering doing an LS/LQ (450-400hp goal) swap in about a year and was going to start buying pieces slowly, long story short I have gone through the build pages and swap pages and i have a few remaining questions that i could find no reference to:
Can a Gm automatic transmission be used instead of the t56? My car is currently an automatic, and instead of the added grief on top of the engine swap of converting the car; I was hoping to be able to swap in another automatic and later add paddle shifts to retain the manual-like option.
Secondly, I know that I will have to upgrade suspension, are there any subframe or rear end modifications that are recommended? Brakes? I see some of these things mentioned; I know Winters makes a quick change rear end however that seems overkill but i am just curious to hear from people who have done this and live with the cars on a daily basis.
Exhaust options available beyond headers?
And finally the big question. Is this worth it? Should I just rebuild the VQ35DE to make 450hp? or swap in a different Japanese engine? buying and rebuilding an LQ4 or 9 would hopefully offer a reliable workhorse NA setup for not an insane amount of money however if the electronic control module or interface doesnt let the ABS or tach work and makes the engine run funny or the thing always has trouble....basically (A)for the time and effort how hard is it to make a real working one with the existing aftermarket parts (B)can we put together an all inclusive list in this thread (C)from experience what are the real big major issues to live with
thanks guys all information is appreciated

Yes you can use an auto trans. Some of the drag guys swear by it. It will require a trans controller most likely. Maybe an auto guy can chime in. I'm not sure on the peculiars of making a paddle shift setup but in theory any trans that has accepts a sportronic type shift command should be easily doable.
Suspension is up to what your going to do with it. Decide your end state (street, drag, road race etc.) and that will drive your parts plan. If your only doing street cruising with occasional canyon carving then a budget set of coils might be what you want. if your going into TT2 road racing then your going to want the best setup you can afford. The same goes for the rear end. The OEM VLSD will work fine for the street. Track driving is going to like a aftermarket diff. your probably going to need new diff bushings regardless of if you swap or not.
Any exhaust shop should be able to fab you up one.
The engine choice is a personal one. The main issues at hand are running a modified or aftermarket tach, loss of TCS, and there are only a hand full of swapped cars with AC. There is also increased noise from the setup normally from louder exhausts. etc. The engine will run as good as your tun is, thats no different than any other motor.
A. I didn't find it hard, but I fab a decent amount of stuff and my parts choices made it easier. It took me probably 3 months working a few days a month for a couple hours at a time.
B. Someone probably could but I have yet to see one swap be the exact same as another and I'm not going to waste my time on that. If you want a parts list that worked for me, read my build thread.

Who is using the oem water temp gauge? I wired mine and it moves up to the first C line then stop there!!! It moves down a little when the fans kick in.
I tried two genuine Nissan temp sensors 22630-44b20 and still the same issue!!
Any idea?

Compare your accessory layout to the layout for and LS2 05-06 GTO. Power steering pump helps if its in the right place, drivers side top, but if you are deleting the AC (most do) then top or bottom pass side will work for the alternator.
