Drill your hole for the throttle cable at about the 9 oclock position where the wiring harness comes through the firewall on the driver side
Either that or I was going to run the cable through the same hole as the harness and modify the pedal to mount the cable onto.
Had my buddy come over last week who has built a TT LS swapped Porsche. He looked over the whole car and I showed him what still needed to be done and we came up with a game plan to get everything finished up. We decided to trailer the car over to his new garage so we could have a better place to work on it and access to all the specialty tools that I don't have. In the mean time I put the rest of the front end together and man does that motor look nasty in there.
Whats left to get this thing running is to run the throttle cable and modify the gas pedal, wiring, cooling hoses, drill hole for the clutch line, bleed the clutch and setup an intake. Just a bunch of little things left to do so I hope to have it running in the next two weeks!
We got it trailered to the new shop earlier tonight so the battle continues on this week!

Still working on the project...been busy with work and school now so I've hardly had anytime to work on it. Plus i'm still stuck on the wiring. Pretty close to finishing but it sure has been a rough ride. I think I went in a bit over my head on this project but I'm figuring it out and seeking as much help as I can.
Before I bought this car I was highly considering just picking up a C5 but I ended up getting this to try something different and was much cheaper. Then the motor started going through TONS of oil and here I am swapping it. Would have been much cheaper and easier to get the C5 in the long run but at least this is something quite a bit more unique.
Kinda what I was afraid of. I'm not so much concerned with bolting everything in place as I am the wiring and all of the unforeseen stuff that the kits don't take into account.
I'm with Classy on this one. Some of the things I learned on my swap was great and I'll carry them forward to future projects. I think there is a lot of info here on my350z, its just not easily referenced. Plus your only a post away from an answer.
Ill be curious to see where you come in on cost. If you're tracking it at all.
I've got an excel spreadsheet to keep track of the build costs that I will post up when everything is finished. So far I'm just under $10k into it and I've sold about $3200 worth old/extra parts.

Big update for you guys! Been very very busy! The Z is officially up and running! Still lots more to do before its completely finished but it drives and its a MONSTER!
Didn't have that many pics to take towards the end of the build but still have a few to share.
Ended up going with some slim fans instead of the stock fans. I highly recommend doing this as it frees up TONS of room in front of the engine bay. Looks great, inexpensive and super easy to install.
I had to remount my coils because I was hitting the firewall on the passenger side. Order a nice set of brackets on ebay that keeps them nice and compact.
Then cut the stock coil brackets and welded the new bracket to the stock ones.
Got a set of Speedhut gauges. Tach(not yet installed), coolant temp, oil pressure and volt meter. Pretty easy install for the center gauges. Tach looks pretty tough...
This thing is a blast to drive and its a freaking beast! Everything is working perfect and it runs awesome! So torquey now and it just wants to go! Already have put about 170 miles on it within 24 hours no problems so far except for a ground coming loose on my engine harness. Runs fantastic but really really needs a tune. Lots of dead spots, sputtering and cam surge at low rpms. Gotta keep the revs up and then it runs great. My trans shifts perfect and better than any other T56 I've owned. Clutch drives like stock. Brand new clutch and zero chatter whatsoever. So smooth and already felt broken in on the first drive. All the fun has come to an end though because Chicago just got it's first snow but at least I got it on the road in time!

Which clutch was it? I'm running a mcleod clutch and its been driving me up the wall. The thing has horrible chatter below 2000. I was thinking of getting a LS7 clutch.

I hear a lot of people run that clutch with great success
I was gonna say, definitely needs tuning. How much lift on the cam and what's the LSA? Almost sounds like a 110 to 112. Some LS1 cams are harder to tune than others.
