Default Help: VQ revup swap into 03 de chassis

Hi all,

any help would be greatly appreciated. Yes, I have searched everywhere for hours for info but cannot find what I need. Also, please don't ask why revup swap is going in - I got a good deal on the motor and my de was dead.

Details:
car: 03 chassis
motor: out of 05 Manuel g35
engine harness: 05 350z harness
ecu: 05 350z ecu
crank sensor: 03 z sensor

issus: car will not start with 05 ecu in. It will crank - fuel pump primes - no spark no power to coilpacks

However, the car DOES start when the 03 ecu is put in but obviously runs like **** with timing difference etc.

NATS has been removed from the 05 ecu. Have had Nissan out before NATS was removed and after NATS was removed and dealer cannot program key to ecu which makes sense. With NATS removed we shouldn't have to do this.

i have compared part numbers on 03 and 05 crank sensors and they seem to be the same. I have pulled all pinouts for 03 and 05 350z's and they look to be identical to me.

any questions please ask. Trying to get this figured out. Thanks in advance

What hasn't been said: Nissan used continuous updates throughout the production of the Z33. Some of the updates, like the VQ rev-up, were never designed to be compatible with the original electronic architecture of the early models. Anybody doing a update/backdate swap like this is taking a chance the swap won't be successful. Make that a priority consideration before you get a "good deal" on a engine variation your Z never came with.

Run it with the 03ECU and a piggyback ecu to adjust timing if that's all is needed?
