ok, so which a/r would you recommend on a stock block setup that with a powercurve that starts as soon as possible without rounding off too bad untill redline?

Meaning, even if I build the block later and the turbo has no more room for power, I will cross that bridge when I come to it. Just looking for the least lag possible without sacrificing much top end peak. does that make sense? Only bothering you with so many questions because you manufacture it I figured you would know best.

You may want to consider the twin scroll kit then:

This kit will out-spool all single turbo kits because the turbo is very close to the manifolds, and it is a true equal length twin scroll design, making it extremely efficient.

With the mid-mount kit, you can go with the .68 a/r, and that will easily get you over the 400whp mark, and still be responsive. A ball bearing turbo upgrade would also be a good idea if you are looking at the best response.

can you PM me a quote on a tuner kit of the twinscroll with .68 a/r? one for journal bearing and one for ball bearing please.

Also just wondering, what could potentially happen if I were to bottom out with this setup or for driving through heavy rain?

Thank you for your time.

The twin scroll does not come in the .68 a/r. It comes with either a .84, 1.0 1.15 or 1.32 a/r T4 housing.

The JB twin scroll tuner kit is $5,800 + shipping and paypal. BB upgrade is $550. This covers the extra wastegate and the extra time to build the manifold as it more involved than a mid mount kit.

The kit sits higher than your sub-frame, so you if you bottom out, the turbo and components would not get damaged at all. The only thing that sits a bit lower is the aluminium pipe under the bell housing, and if you manage to damage it, I will send you a free replacement . We have very rough roads here due to a long and cold winter, and I have never had any issues.

Water/rain should not be a problem either. If you are driving in deep puddles, then yes, it could become a problem, rain alone should not be an issue.

OK cool. so last 2 questions I swear.

1. Would the .84 twin scroll kit produce a similar spool/curve as the .68 with the regular kit? Once again this would be on a stock block setup aiming for no more than 400hp.

2. Can the BOV can dump to atmosphere (as in not recirculated). Im really would like to put a SSQV on there. Also, what components of the exhaust does your kit replace?

Good to hear about how it sits under the car. once again thanks for taking the time to answer these questions. I've heard about your outstanding build quality and customer service so very interested in this kit.

thanks again

The .84 a/r twin scroll would be comparable to the .68 a/r.

The BOV is never recirculated on a turbocharged car. HKS SSQV BOV is possible with the kit, not a big deal at all. If you are talking about the wastegate...yes, it can be built so it is open to atmosphere.

The kit replaces the OEM converters or test pipes, as well as the OEM Y-pipe. So if your exhaust can be bolted up to the OEM Y-pipe, then it is compatible with this kit.

.....and you are welcome .

I had a customer with a similar issue, so I built him this:

Of course there was additional costs associated with a very custom set-up like this. These particular converters were $1,000 each, but that is what the customer wanted.

Here is the wastegates to atmosphere option:

Is the installation manual available to view prior to purchase? I wouldn't mind thumbing through it while I try and convince myself to pull the trigger. . .

The kit is still being produced...and I don't have a manual handy. Looking at the pictures below, you should have a very good idea of what is involved on the install side. Everything is bolt-on. There is not need to remove any OEM components other than the crash bar to install this kit.
